You've got a friend in me

You've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me
When the road looks rough ahead
And you're miles and miles
From your nice warm bed
You just remember what your old pal said
Boy, you've got a friend in me
Yeah, you've got a friend in me

You've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me
If you've got troubles, I've got 'em too
There isn't anything I wouldn't do for you
We stick together and can see it through
Cause you've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me

Some other folks might be
A little bit smarter than I am
Bigger and stronger too
Maybe
But none of them will ever love you
The way I do, it's me and you
Boy, and as the years go by
Our friendship will never die
You're gonna see it's our destiny
You've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me

Bravo Mr. Spielberg for making me cry!

I watched yet another Spielberg movie this weekend (among 5 movies that I watched)... Schindler's list. I was pleasantly pleased with myself for having chosen such an excellent one!
It has become really difficult to please me with movies, it could be that I am watching so many that I have become insensitive... but ever so often one lands up with one of these gems that makes one feel rewarded.

This was among the few movies that made me cry... (Yes I cried!) I think Forrest Gump was the only other movie that made me cry. Not that I think there is anything bad about it, but I dont cry much. I think in the past 5-6 years I must have cried once out of circumstances I cant describe and 3 times because I saw something that touched me in a movie. I dont know if other guys cry this much or more, but I find the shedding of tears a matter requiring the utmost discretion.

Identify?! ;-)

Yossarian says, "You're talking about winning the war, and I am talking about winning the war and keeping alive."
"Exactly," Clevinger snapped smugly. "And which do you think is more important?"
"To whom?" Yossarian shot back. "It doesn't make a damn bit of difference who wins the war to someone who's dead."
"I can't think of another attitude that could be depended upon to give greater comfort to the enemy."
"The enemy," retorted Yossarian with weighted precision, "is anybody who's going to get you killed, no matter which side he's on."
Another way to spend time...

I hope the RIAA doesnt read my blog these days. My latest hobby is downloading movies. Broadband is really great for such a pastime... It takes around a day's time to get a movie and you can download two or three movies simultaneously. Last nite I saw "National Lampoon's Van Wilder"... okay movie. The guy called Kal Penn (his name is Taj Mahal in the movie) is actually a friend of one of my friends. And some of my other friends had told me a lot about the movie... But turned out to be an average movie. Tara Reid from American Pie looks quite cute... but apart from that nothing too spectacular.

On Sunday nite I saw "Almost Famous". It was one of the highest grossing movies in the US. So I thought that I had to watch it. And it was really good! The storyline was interesting, there weren't any major anachronisms, and the 70's were depicted pretty accurately. What also made it a great movie for me was Simon and Garfunkel playing "America" in the first few minutes. The very articulate, intuitive and idealistic mom reminded me of a friend's mother. So overall it was a nice movie, though I wont describe it as phenomenal. 4 stars on my rating out of 5.;-) Competing with Ebert and Roper now!

Back in Madison for Halloween

Halloween is the best time to be in a party school like Madison. Its just great fun... Students in Madison are among the most enthusiatic people anywhere and if you've never been to State Street on Halloween, you are missing something!!

I was dressed as Wilson Wilson from Home Improvement, and lots of people recognized me too and I used to put in my happy "How di ho good neighbour!!". much to the amusement of many passers by. I shall put a picture of my costume very soon, which was a pretty last minute barebones kind of thing. I took some card board piece and cut up the top and bottom to look like a picket fence and then painted some rough lines in black. Devang stuck this thing to my neck somehow and you could only see the top of my face through the whole thing.

Then we went for our late night walk to State Street and it is like a sea of humanity there, all dressed up as something or someone else. Saw lots of Marios, slutty nurses, who(r)e's, Frankensteins, Supermen... you name it and the character was there on State Street yesterday. I am probably going again tonite and I hope to go there again and enjoy more.
